Northwest Iowa Care Connections, a Mental Health and Disability Services region serving residents of Clay, Dickinson, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, and Palo Alto Counties, is pleased to announce its contract with Foundation 2 effective July 1st, 2015. This private, non-profit organization, located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa has, as its mission, to be a trusted compassionate resource for people in crisis by offering counseling, safety, and support during difficult times.
Foundation 2, Inc. has provided crisis and suicide prevention services since 1970. In 1985, a toll free number was added to begin providing phone services statewide, 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. For the past 20 years, Foundation 2 has taken crisis calls from all over the state of Iowa, is certified by the American Association of Suicidology and through the Iowa Department of Human Services Chapter 24 Emergency Services. Foundation 2 certification is underway for recently adopted DHS Crisis Services.
A caller can expect to receive assistance from trained staff 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All callers to Foundation 2 are assessed by crisis counselors and when appropriate, follow-up is arranged as part of a collaborative safety plan. Referrals to local providers will be made as needed.
